Year 8 Portraiture

Students gained knowledge in understanding how portraiture has changed throughout history and were introduced to key artist up to date. Work began by looking at the Renaissance, using hard and soft lines for creating tones and highlights, using off white paper.

The challenge was to develop ‘accurate’ drawing skills through portraiture using the grid method. These were then developed further by adding tonal qualities.

Colour mixing

Students learnt how to mix colour and apply different skin tones. Due to school closures the project was not able to be completed, however they would have developed the work in the style of Julian Opie, using collage and other media to create personal meaning to their work and link to self-identity.
